Golden Root: A Natural Mental and Physical Stimulant
Often called a “second generation” adaptogen, golden root serves a very specific purpose in Vitarich’s proprietary blend of adaptogenic herbs. Unlike many stimulants, such as caffeine and synthetic stimulants, which can cause jitters and over-excitement, golden root is said to produce a much smoother, subtler stimulation of the user. In fact, studies in animals showed that golden root has the capacity to increase static and dynamic work ability.
Many stimulants only affect one area (physical or mental); however, golden root has been shown to have a positive increase on both physical and mental ability. For example, studies in humans showed an increase in proofreading abilities, and the test subjects receiving the golden root were able to read 5-7% more than the control group, pointing to an increase in mental capabilities. Further golden root studies in humans showed an improvement in physical capacities as well, with improved cardiovascular recovery after activity. Golden root is also noted to help maintain levels of ATP and other substances during short, intense workouts, medium-length workouts, and long periods of exertion.
In a study done in the 1960’s, golden root was also shown to have an effect on the reproductive systems of mice, with shorter times between heats and significantly longer heat times. In addition, the organs of the mice’s reproductive systems were seen to be “more prepared” for a zygote when given golden root. Whether or not this effect is similar in humans has not been determined.
